Many of you may struggle with your unique identity. I have said many times, it is your divine identity that makes you relevant in the marketplace. Shawn Saunders was able to bring confirmation to that very same message.

How does our relationship with God help us in business and our personal life?

Shawn answered with the following……

1. Make God the center, the nucleus of your focus.

2. Meditate and plan according to the instructions from God.

The results will be astounding to increasing the success of your business.  You will become more accountable, and responsible for the your determination to succeed.

From the Projects to Purpose -Fostering the Future Campaign

WOW is all I can say about the Fostering the Future Campaign that revealed my story

From the Projects from Purpose - Fostering the Future Campaign

Childrensrights.org

From the Projects to Purpose” yesterday. For the first time I am revealing my story to the world, in hopes that someone will find hope. Especially the 400k plus youth that are currently in the foster care system.

Children’s Rights is the only organization dedicated to reforming the welfare system through legal advocacy. Because of the number of children locked in the system, this organization is key to the transformation and empowerment of every youth.

Fostering the Future Campaign highlights the stories of past foster care youth every year, to give hope to those that are still in the system.

From the Projects to Purpose is my story of second chances and redemption. I knew there would come a time when I would share a portion of my story for others. Children’s Rights provided me the opportunity through the fostering the future campaign to do just that.

From the Projects to Purpose - Fostering the Future CampaignMy story is not typical of children who enter the foster care system. My mother was 15 when she had me. We grew up together, her mother raising both of us, in the Los Angeles projects once known as Aliso Village.

If I could say anything to a child in the same situation, it would be to never lose hope. Believe that no matter what, you have a purpose in life. Allow that hope to be an anchor for your faith and hold on to it when you’re tossed on life’s stormy seas. These tests become the light that you will use to lead someone else out of their dark circumstances. Don’t let that light go out. READ THE FULL STORY HERE

Now I’m on a mission to work with organizations and ministries who serve the youth and communities, by showing them how to communicate and empower them lead successful and significant lives.

If you’re interested in booking me for your next fundraiser or youth event to help “Facilitate Their Dreams” or raise funds I am here  and ready.

To Your Success and Significance,

Your Dream Needs A Blueprint and Gratitude

What is a Dream Facilitator?  Why do I need a blueprint?  What does it take to fulfill my dream?

All of these are valid questions for dreamers who have a desire to see their dream manifest.  It has been my experience that without a blueprint, a foundation and divine guidance our dreams will not come to life the way God intended it to. The result of not having a dream blueprint often times, is a counterfeit dream, which I talk about in a recent FaceBook post. In the video below I discuss why Your Dream Needs A Blueprint and Gratitude.

Your Dream Needs A Blueprint and Gratitude

When there is a divine calling for your dream to manifest, whether that is a business, a ministry or something else, your complete recollection of what God showed you is key.  Don’t leave anything out because it may seem difficult or unrealistic.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. Isaiah 55:8

That means that his instruction, guidance and blueprint was downloaded into your spirit. Were you paying attention?  Or did you look to outside resources to help you?

His ways, His Thoughts will be what manifests your TRUE vision and dream blueprint.

Your Dream Needs A Blueprint and Gratitude

Suffering from Success, Memoirs of A Dreamer

Suffering from Success, Memoirs of A Dreamer

It’s been a long time since I’ve discussed, anything relating to dreams or being a dreamer.  Last night while in deep thought, the words Suffering from Success, Memoirs of A Dreamer dropped into my spirit. Now I wouldn’t be right if I didn’t tell you, that I’ve watched Memoirs of A Geisha like seven hundred times.

I haven’t watched that movie in a couple of years though. So it was kind of odd that I’m about to use the story line. The subject matter and concept was breeding ground for this title.  Now ya’ll know I’m about to dispel myths today, right? It wouldn’t be me if I didn’t get you to thinking about the heart of the matter. You can’t happy your way into success. I am going to show you how success comes with many character building circumstance and situations that most won’t share.

Suffering from Success, Memoirs of A Dreamer

Listen I come bearing real news, real good news. There are many Suffering from Success. Then you have those who want the prize, but rarely want to go through the trials and tribulations that comes with it. This means you may be met with resistance and imitators, attempting to rob the vision of those who have a dream, a vision or Kingdom assignment.

Just like the characters of Memoirs of a Geisha, you will come across people who play the same roles in your journey to success.  Zhang Ziyi who played Sayuri, had a dream of getting out the hood (foster care). She was sold off for money by her father, after her mother died suddenly.  Now her sister was with her, but unfortunately they were separated. Sayuri was left to fend for herself.

The road to your destiny can be a lonely time. You will often be left in unfamiliar environments.  The powerful thing about a dreamer is you can adapt, and your survival skills kick in. The same happened with Sayuri. She was now in a house where Geisha’s lived.  She admired and dreamed of being free, and walking among the elite.

When it was her time to taste the fruits of success, along came the characters. You will also be met with role players like the ones I am about to discuss.  Allow this post to help you discern those that will come along during your triumph to success. Use this as an opportunity to strengthen your character, build your confidence and open your senses.

Suffering from Success Memoirs of a Dreamer

Characters and Role Players

 Sayuri – The Dreamer

Life can start out rough for dreamers.  Keep your faith, and remember there’s purpose in the pain.  Nothing that comes easy lasts, and nothing worth having comes without a fight. As much as we want to assume that our dreams will come without work or adversity, it’s just not true. Just know that in the end you WIN!

Hatsumomo – The Mentor

Many believe that you are to choose your mentor or coach.  In all reality, it’s the other way around. Your mentor is special because they will see something in you that others won’t. They’ll take a risk on you, and have the keen discernment to know your dream even when you haven’t fully disclosed it to them. They will be the one making the choice to invest in you. That’s another story for another day.

Characteristics of a good mentor can be the following:

  • They have been through something similar to you, and have overcome.
  • They will come and confirm your dream, not try to change it to meet the standards of normality.
  • They will fight alongside with you during the journey.
  • They will stand when you are weak, and strengthen you through prayer and encouragement.
  • They will challenge you out of your comfort zone.
  • They will not be “YES” men/women.
  • They will know the route you need to take and not take the easy way out.

These are just a few of the traits of a mentor or what I like to call a midwife. They will be in the birthing room with you when you push out your dream/vision.

Suffering from Success, Memoirs of a DreamerMameha – The Adversary

You will always encounter someone who is afraid of your success.  Funny thing is, you may not have problems with this person.  In the movie Sayuri started out admiring and looking up to Mameha.  Instead of feeling honored by the presence of Sayuri, Mameha felt threatened. Allow this type of person to confirm that you have what it takes.  The threat wouldn’t come if there wasn’t something inside of you, that caused her fear of losing her own identity.  Mameha was successful at the top of her game and doing the dagum thang.

There was not need to feel that way about Sayuri, but she did.

When you face this kind of adversary do the following:

  • Kill them with kindness.
  • Continue with your training.
  • Stay focused, as that person will attempt to send you distractions.
  • Stay humble, as this adversary will also attempt to humiliate you.
  • Never stop believing.

This is just the foundation needed to build your dream upon. During this time, you will acquire the necessary skills, endurance and tenacity required to live your dream.

Pumpkin – The Side Kick

Everyone has the fence riding side kick. Pumpkin was weak and needed consistent reassurance.  She started out as a friend of Sayuri’s.  But when the fire came, she quickly jumped ship.  She became Mameha’s flunky and was used as a pawn to hurt Sayuri.  This is the distraction I spoke about earlier.  Because most dreamers are loving, it can be hard to see someone treated as a mere mole in a game.

Here’s how to handle the side kick:

  • Stay cordial. Your character will teach this person how to fight fire with faith.
  • Allow this person to watch you climb your mountain to success. They in turn will become the witness to how God works in your life.  Kinda like free publicity. They’re important to the cause.

Side kicks don’t really hate you.  They hate themselves for not being strong enough to live and fulfill their own dreams.

Memoirs of a Dreamer

Character and Role Players

Nobu – The Imposter

There are so many opportunities that will come that may look like it’s the gateway to your dream. Nobu wanted Sayuri bad, and was willing to pay a high price to have her.  Sayuri was aware that this was not the dream she had in mind, but entertained Nobu. Saddened by the thought of not being able to have her dream, she never expected he would be the road that lead her to her dream.

Don’t be discouraged when you have to take opportunities that don’t fit your dream.  These are chances to be re-assured of what you want.  This time will enlightened you to all the things you don’t want in your life.

This is down time when your discernment is sharpened.  You get to see each character for who they really are.  It’s training ground.

Chairman – Your Dream

Nobu lead Sayuri right to the Chairman.  Since Sayuri was entertaining Nobu, it put her in the position to be noticed by the Chairman.  What seemed like a bad situation, actually turned out to be the path that introduced her to her dream.  The Chairman was everything she wanted. Everything she had dreamed about.  When things got really bad it was the Chairman who saved her.

What can we learn here about your dream?

Just when you are all out of time, out of faith and out of patience, your dream shows up.  You’ve encountered just about every bump in the road.  You may have even thought you would never see your dream manifest.  Just at the right time you’ll see that which you had the faith to believe.

Here is what the characters, circumstance and situation prepares you for:

  • Your dream when it arrives
  • Your discernment to recognize it
  • Your tenacity to wait for it
  • Your trust with your mentor
  • Your character to maintain it
  • Your patience to keep believing know matter what

I know this may have been a long post.  I might have lost some along the way.  But I believe, that whomever got the message is well on their way to seeing their dream come true.  Don’t shoot the messenger.  I’m just the writer of Suffering from Success, Memoirs of A Dreamer.  I’d love to know what you were able to get from this story below.

3 Ways to Influence the Youth to Impact Your Business

It’s no secret that I am passionate about our youth. I’m even more excited to see so many businesses impacting them in a positive light.  If you’re not among the numbers flocking to tap into the buying power of this generation, you are missing out. These 3 ways to influence the youth and impact your business will be key.  More than $200 billion will be spent in the next five years by youth and young adults. Not only are they a force to be acknowledged, they deserve to be influenced by you. The reward is bigger than a dollar. The impact cultivates a community of leaders equipped, and prepared for the marketplace.

3 Ways to Influence the Youth to Impact Your Business

Here are 3 ways to influence the youth and impact your business:

1. Your Net

There’s an old saying, “you can’t clean a fish you can’t catch.” Before developing programs and products to serve this generation, evaluate your net. Whatever your method is on the interNet, your Network, its ability to attract the youth is important.  Determine whether your method of socializing is working for them. Most youth are using the new social Networks. While you’re still trying to learn marketing on Facebook and Twitter, they’ve moved on to Snapchat, Instagram and Vine. Knowing where to cast your net is the first step to influence the youth and build your business.

2. Learn Heart Marketing

Authenticity breeds respect. This generation of youth can smell fake miles away. All the fluff and technical jargon gets lost, when a youth is looking for the heart of the matter. So how does a coach, speaker or life changer attract a youth to their business? I’m glad you asked. By showing your scars, you show them that you’re real. Your life’s experiences have given you credibility to solve certain issues or problems.  Develop a series of talk sessions. Conversation pieces get them engaged in who you are as an individual.

Your business will become a Rock Star in their eyes, and their loyalty will remain true your brand to the end. This helps you build a stronger brand and increase profits. Why? Because their referrals, and word of mouth will mean more to their peers, than any advertising you can do on your own. This generation is loyal. The repeat business, referrals and co-signing overtime elevates your business revenue.

3. Focus on the dream, Not the dollar

Don’t always make it about the money. They’ll move on faster than you can count to three. If they are seen as a number, instead of a human being, you’ve blown it. Build a community that cultivates communication. Ask questions, call and or write, even after the business has stopped. This generation is all about relationships. That’s why social media is so important.  It makes relationship building and communication simple.

These 3 ways to influence the youth and impact your business is valuable in reaching a new audience. Not to mention the trial and error. What are some ways you use to influence and impact youth?

Fostering the Future Campaign Reveals my Untold Story

I don’t know whether to feel honored or scared *?!@less. Lately the Lord has been opening doors to tell my story. Fostering the Future Campaign Reveals my Untold Story. Now, I’ve always known this day would come; I just don’t think you’re ever really prepared to share such private memories. Over the years I have watched others share their stories with great ease.  I guess being such a private person, I always thought I would know and feel comfortable when the time came.

Will I Overcome the Idea of Not Having Any Personal Space?

Fostering the Future Campaign Reveals my Untold Story

When you’re raised to hold a level of privacy by the code of the hood, opening up seems like an invasion.  This code that I’ve lived by for so long is one not of secrecy, but of valuing my life. Now I’m not talking about the skeletons we often hide in the closet of despair. It’s more a term of respect that you give any individual who does not seek to be in the public eye. The “G” code. LOL

Fostering the Future Campaign Reveals My Untold Story

Stay with me now; I’m going somewhere.

It’s the code that has kept me alive all of these years.  The code that causes so many to wonder what my life is about. Anyway, the time has come for me to speak up, and realize this journey is really not all about me. I’m grown. I’ve survived, and have been blessed beyond my imagination.  Hell, I’ve even lived. Fostering the Future is about helping someone who may not have those same privileges.  I learned a long time ago that your mess becomes your message.  Your test will be your testimony.

Fostering the Youth Reveals My Untold Story

Pic Credit: Children’s Rights Org

If sharing my story of being in foster care can help someone, then God willing, I will share all that I have.  So yesterday, when I was notified that my story has been chosen to be featured in the Fostering the Future Campaign, the revealing of my untold story was birthed.  My story will soon be blasted to thousands, maybe even millions of individuals with the same survival and situational stories. It’s time I shared how I survived eviction from the projects, two foster homes, and drive by shootings and escaped molestation with my virginity.

The Campaign That Reveals My Untold Story

The time of turning a blind eye to so many hurting youth is gone.  My escape was not so I can forget where I came from.  It’s a blessing and I harbor no bitterness or unforgiveness for any party involved.  I thank God that it made me who I am today. My heart is passionate towards these youth who are looking for love, healing, and a way to find their purpose. In reality, the only pain I feel is that of my Heavenly Father for His children.

Fostering the Youth Campaign Reveals my Untold Story

So it’s my purpose to walk through every open door, and take every opportunity to bring light into dark experiences.  I find hope in the healing that will take place when you find compassion for one’s journey instead of judgment.

This year I can see many hearts being turned to the Father.

And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse. Malachi 4:6

When you allow God to do the fixing, and we just do the loving, a great awakening takes place.  I’m looking forward to sharing my story in the Fostering the Future Campaign.

I’m just honored to have the wings healed to fly to my capacity of being.  That what was sent to hold me down is destroyed and annihilated by the purpose I have to finish in this life.  When you set your sight on your Heavenly Father, the very things sent to destroy you will be used to catapult you right into your destiny.

My son recently gave me a revelation, I believe given to him by God.  He said, “Mom, God will take you to your destinies.” I said, “Son, so what are you saying, that we have more than one destiny?” He said, “Yes, Mom, we move from destiny to destiny.” Ha. I said, “I hear you, son.”

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord  2 Corinthians 3:18

My God that was powerful. Do you listen to the voice of the youth? They have powerful messages, given to them for your good.  And yet without the revelation of who they are, you will miss it.  Don’t be blinded by their youth.  They are a chosen generation, pay attention.  Generation next a.k.a Millennials have more clout with the Father than most care to admit.

And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: Acts 2:17

Why I Kicked My New Year Resolutions to the Curb

I have officially set my New Year’s resolutions on fire.  They’ve been burned down along with the empty promises and failed attempts. The days of magnifying my limitations, insecurities and inabilities are over.

At some point you have to outlive the self-hating and loathing. It’s exhausting. And you know that insanity is just doing the same thing over again, hoping for a different result.

Instead of resolutions, I choose reinventions. I am going to share with you why.

Why Reinvention Is Better than Resolutions:

  1. Resolutions become rituals

    Burn the Resolutions

Rituals – designed to influence preternatural entities or forces on behalf of the actors’ goals and interests. (according to Wikipedia)

I’ve never been the one to follow the traditions of men.  Maybe that is the reason why I never followed through on any past resolutions.  Instead of becoming bitter, I choose to become better. When you allow yourself to learn from experiences, instead of repeating them, you grow.

2. I refuse to get off the Potter’s wheel

Stay on the Potter’s wheel.

There is pressure when you are growing. Whether in your personal or professional life, the breaking and redesigning produces strength, courage and tenacity necessary for your next level.

These are the qualities that mold you into a committed person of integrity and dedication.  Dedication and commitment, you will find is what is already inside of you.

3. Reinvention Reconciles You

Hardships, situations and circumstances have a way of breaking you down.  A disconnect happens between your heart and your mind.  Confusion sets in, and produces inconsistency and lack.

Bridging the gap between your heart and your mind.

But when you understand how important the bridge is from your heart to your mind, you protect the bridge instead of burning it.  That means that nothing should stand between a unified spirit of mind, body and soul.  In all honesty the only one capable of mending a broken connection is the Divine Connector.

4. Reinvention Increases Your Faith and Belief

There is something about having faith and belief in a Creator greater than you.  Understanding that there is SOMEONE that has your back, your front, top and bottom that pushes you to keep going further.

Faith releases the antidote to failure.  Belief encourages you to go beyond your own limitations.

Why I Kicked My New Year Resolutions to the Curb

Moments in life come and I am more than appreciative of each one that has passed me in 2013.  I am looking forward to more experiences, lessons and opportunities to birth life into my dreams.

In 2014 I am standing on the one message that reinvents my soul day after day…

For nothing is impossible with God. Luke 1:37

Share your New Year’s reinvention plans in the section below.  I’d love to hear about your commitment in 2014.

Why I Kicked My New Year Resolutions to the Curb

Leading From Within

Leading from withinThis quote sparked something inside of my spirit. Why? Because the world would have us to believe that failure is the end all, no more, it’s over mentality. Clearly every significant success story starts with the story of first failing.

This is the most recent word I received in my spirit.  “Leading From Within”, a specific call to you from your spiritual guide.  Your authentic relationship with your Father in heaven.  He wants you to trust all that was instilled in you from the beginning of time.

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart. Jeremiah 1:5

Leading From Within

You are born a winner, but it takes life’s experience to teach you some very important lessons.  These specific trials you will need to take your vision/dream to the next level of manifestation. Tomorrow on the Empowered B.O.S.S. Network Radio Show, I will discuss some key tips and techniques to help you lead from within your inner spirit.

Trust Your Gut

You are divinely equipped with the strength and courage to build a significant business, ministry or nonprofit.  That which God imparted to you as your personal responsibility, is embedded in your genetic makeup.  If you are anything like me, you sleep and breathe that Kingdom vision.  It can keep you up at night at times.

Two weeks ago the EBN radio guest Jim Palmer, talked about business owners having the guts to start a business.  It takes fearlessness to risk everything for your business.Well it’s time to trust your gut.

Become Inaccessible

When you are anointed with a vision, a purpose for the Kingdom being to accessible is dangerous.  Yes I would say dangerous because of dream killers, but you already know that.

Here I’m talking about dangerous because having too many distractions, keeps you from hearing directions and instructions from the Holy Spirit.  Often your spirit is your GPS to implementing key strategies for your business.  But when you are consistently bombarded with the thoughts and advice of others outside of your mentor or divinely appointed coach, you can become confused and stagnant.

Trusting Your Sight (Spiritual Eyes)

Where were you when you first received the vision?  Do you remember what you were doing at the moment God enlightened you to your purpose?

I remember I was already working with a nonprofit organization when I was first unctioned about my purpose.  Funny thing though, I never imagined I would have a desire to work with those that were helping young people.  Disadvantaged and at-risk youth and young adults, just like I was at some point in my life.  I was drawn to what had caused me some pain in my past.  Without even realizing it, I was already positioned to my dream.  To be a change agent for young adults, who had a desire to become more than statistics predicted.

Yes, you will too be given INSIGHT to where your business will be most needed, and in the end more profitable.  “What you see is what you get”  Believe and you shall have what you see.  Trust your insight.

What an amazing confirmation that you have exactly what you need.  As Les Brown says, “You have greatness in YOU”. And my favorite Social Media mentor Sandi Krakowski says, “Be More”.

Start there and watch God move you into your desired manifestation of your vision.  When we move from victim to victor, in knowing that trials and struggles come to increase our character, build our strength and drive our purpose. #BlessGod

Leading From Within

Tomorrow I will discuss Leading From Within (Part -1) on the Empowered B.O.S.S. Network Radio Show. In the discussion you will learn how important it is for your business to lead from your inner strengths, and not your weaknesses. Leading from within

I hope you enjoyed this post on “Leading From Within”, please like, share and comment.  Many blessings and significance to you.

Solid As A Rock – Top 5 Steps Every Dreamer Must Take

Does your dream intimidate you? There is no dream that is ever too big.  Only hearts Top 5 Steps Every Dreamer Must Takethat are not ready to BELIEVE.

There was a time that I would choose not to write in my journal. It was those times, that I struggled with having faith that my dream would come true.  Actually I tossed to and from. One minute believing that it would happen. Then other times, I would make preparations in case it didn’t. Solid As A Rock – Top 5 Steps Every Dreamer Must Take

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. James 2:8

Solid As A Rock - Top 5 Steps Every Dreamer Must TakeSolid As A Rock

The final breakthrough came when I realized, that I had been the stumbling block.  My confidence was the key.  When I believed that I was adequate, and capable of being entrusted with such a big vision, I experienced a shift in my mindset.

Jumping from project to project, vision to vision didn’t make me a master of anything but unfulfilled commitments. If you want to make a statement, and build an audience around your ability to be a “jack of all trades, but a master of none”, then you will find you attract the same individuals.

BUT……….

When you become solid as a rock, determined, confident and dedicated to your vision, you’ll witness the roots deepen into a foundation capable of building any dream upon. You’re not swayed by what others are doing, and saying.  Solid As A Rock – Top 5 Steps Every Dreamer Must Take; Instead you are believing, trusting and putting your faith in a higher dimension of power.  The reality that it will take a power greater than your own, to guide and direct you on the journey.

Solid As A Rock – Top 5 Steps Every Dreamer Must Take

Here are 5 steps that I learned along the journey as a dreamer and visionary….

1. Get Clear About Your Dream

Having a clear picture about your dream, vision and desire will eliminate any doubt from your mind.  When you see it clearly, you condition your whole being to running towards it.  You may have to jump over some hurdles, knock down some walls, but you see it; therefore you believe it.

2. Develop A Winning MindsetSolid As A Rock - Top 5 Steps Every Dreamer Must Take

You are a winner. Point blank, period.  If you were not, why would you be entrusted with a dream and vision?  That is how you have to think about yourself.  That despite all odds, circumstances or situations, you are a WINNER!

Live it, breathe it and become it.  WIN, WIN, WIN….

3. Protect Your Surroundings

You may have to fight like hell, to protect your surroundings.  Create an atmosphere of peace, serenity and love. I have found that most often, that you determine what goes into your ear gate.  And it is what goes in, that ends of finding it’s way out.

Your dream is like a baby.  You don’t just let anyone watch, hold or take care of your baby.  Right? You make decisions about who will watch your baby, based off their ability to nurture care for your baby.  The same with your dream.

Without faith in the future, there’s no power in the present. – Rick Martin

4. Act As If

When you see your dream, you believe in it.  Therefore you position yourself, to act as if you are already living it.  Everyday you wake up, you dress, talk and work as if it is already a reality.  That is how you build your confidence.  Awesome, try it.

5. Find a Dream Facilitator, A Mentor, A Coach Solid As A Rock - Top 5 Steps Every Dreamer Must Take

I spent so much time turning my wheels, and hitting brick walls.  The reason being, I was not mentored or coached for a long time.

dream facilitator, a mentor and/or coach will light the way for you. Having a clear path to walk with step-by-step directions, enables you to keep from making mistakes and taking time away from you and your dream coming to fruition.

The number one excuse I hear is, “I can’t afford a coach.”  But you can’t afford not to have one.  Your number one investment should be, in YOU! Frustration comes when you are tired of not meeting your goals.  It’s tiring and draining, not accomplish that which you desire.
